The most remote, rugged, and glacially active guided fjord is now accessible in a day trip.
We are now offering day trips to Northwestern Fjord. This raw and magical realm is beyond imagination and descriptions. It fills the senses with awe and leaves the paddler at a loss of words. Cameras come down, silence ensues, and eyes drift upward as you try to take it all in while sitting in your kayak .
Departing from Seward on a well-appointed small capacity water taxi, we navigate out of Resurrection Bay and into Harris Bay. The 2.5 hour journey is filled with whale watching, checking out Stellar sea lion haul outs, floating sea otters, and hopefully spotting roaming black bears. Rain forests, mountain islands, massive granite cliffs and rock spires will be our coastline view on the way to Harris Bay. Once we turn toward Northwestern Fjord we will be entering a land that returns us to the days where glaciers ruled the landscape and created the stark and rugged beauty of the Kenai Fjords National Park.
Our water taxi drops us off on a beach safely across from an active 4000 foot wall of granite and ice. We will familiarize ourselves with the kayaks and go over some paddling instruction and safety before pushing off on a ONE WAY paddle to the head of the fjord and Northwestern Glacier. Along the way we will pass three tidewater glaciers, striation island and its recently deglaciated landscape, huge granite cliffs, icebergs, seals, black bears, bald eagles, hanging glaciers, etc etc etc.
Join us this season for a first ever trip. Landscapes like these are why we live in Seward, and trips like these are why we are in the business of guided kayaking.
